Not many companies can make the same claim to historical tradition as the Maison Charaix!

In 1581 Catherine de Medici, arranging the wedding of Duke Anne de Joyeuse to Marguerite of Lorraine, came across a previously undiscovered Italian recipe for sweet round cakes made of ground almonds called Maccarone. The Duke, so overcome by these delicious treats, brought them back to Joyeuse in the Rhône-Alpes region of southern France, where these macaroons have been made ever since.

Today the Maison Charaix continues to produce these delicious, traditional macaroons in Joyeuse using traditional artisanal methods and natural ingredients.
