The passion fruit owes its name to the jesuits and the discovery of America. This fruit was used by Jesuits to illustrate the Passion of Jesus Christ, since they apparently saw some similarities between the aspect of the fruit and the face of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Serving suggestion: an exotic tasting jam, but one that doesn't demand too much passion over the breakfast table
