Verbena liqueur is traditionally used as a digestive at the end of hearty meals. It is used here to flavour these sweets? the combination gives a tasty and original result where we find all the sweetness of sugar sublimated by the mint and lemongrass aromas of verbena.
This subtle blend will make it a delicacy patriculously appreciated by adults.
Pagès Velay's verbena
Among the ancients, verbena was one of the sacred herbs. The Romans called it the herb of Venus, believing it capable of rekindling the fires of love. Today it is the emblem of Auvergne's gastronomy and still attracts chefs who regularly exploit its gustatory riches.
The PAGÈS Distillery has always mastered the cultivation and collection of verbena plants. The variety used for the production of Verveine du Velay is lemon verbena with a deliciously lemony scent. It is grown by the Distillery on its own site. Planted in June by the master distiller, it is harvested before the frosts and then dried in the dark before being stripped of its leaves by hand.
