The Boudon vineyard uses only the very highest quality grapes to make this sumptuous Bordeaux red. Patrick Boudon himself describes it thus:
“The Merlot grape variety, planted in argilo-calcareous soil, makes up 60-65% of this blend. Merlot has a full-bodied flavour, a warmth, and a silkiness which brings to mind the aroma of red fruits. The Cabernet Sauvignon variety, which makes up 20-25% of this blend, has the key characteristics of our region, with a certain finesse and woody aroma reminiscent of the Château Haut Mallet. I often use Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varieties to put the finishing touch to the assemblage, in order to complete the wine's structure. This wine is aged in barrels for 12 months, and I would advise that it be left to mature for 5 to 10 years after the year marked on its bottle, in order to allow its flavours to mature to perfection. It is the ideal accompaniment to game, red meat and cheeses. To enjoy it at its very best, open it 15-20 minutes before you are ready to serve, at a temperature of 17-18°C.”
