The heart of France, the Val du Loire encompasses the grain producing region known as the granary of France. Acres and acres of flat, fertile land stretch away into the distance, the line of the horizon broken here and there by the great Gothic cathedrals of Chartres and Bourges. Amongst the gastronomic specialities of the region are the sumptous pork 'rillettes' from Le Mans, mustard from Orleans and little green lentils from the Berry, and then, of course, there are the chocolat fondues produced by top chocolatier Mazet...
