Origins in the heart of Bresse

Everything started a long time before the French Revolution in the Bresse region where my family cultivated the earth for generations, in Marboz and Cuet close to Montrevel, and then in Saint Didier d'Aussiat.

The beginnings in 1872

The story of Blanc’s Inn started in 1872 with Jean-Louis Blanc and his spouse, my great-grandparents. At that time the hotel was serving copious snacks and started to become famous...


The history goes on
 
In 1902, Adolphe Blanc, my grandfather took up again the hotel. His wife, Elisa Gervais from her maiden name, quickly became famous under the nickname "Mother Blanc". Gastronomes of the time really enjoyed her simple but rich cooking. In 1930, the Touring Club of France gave her the first award of the competition for her cooking. Curnonsky, the prince of the gastronomes, designated her in 1933 as the "Cook of the world". At that time the Dombes frogs' legs really starts to become famous like the Bresse chicken from Blanc's House...

In 1934, my parents, Jean and Paulette, took up again the hostel and carried on with the specialities of the hostel.

In 1968 came a young cooker, Georges Blanc - 25 ans
 
I was born in 1943 in Bourg en Bresse. After attending the hotel school of Thonon Les Bains where I graduated in 1962, and honing my culinary skills in several famous restaurants, and in 1968 I took over the familial hostel as head of the restaurant, with the aim of turning the modest family restaurant into one of the flagships of the Relais & Châteaux chain. His investment has born fruit.

After that everything went faster. In 1981, the Michelin Guide awarded us with a third star, while Gault and Millau honoured me as "Cook of the year" and in 1985 I receive a 19.5 score never reached until then...

Since then I carried on by blending tradition and innovation in greedy poems. I also developed a range of quality products that I recommend you to discover soon.
