Spread of the Alsacian vineyard

The Alsatian vineyard covers approximately twelve thousand hectares, divided into ten thousand exploitations, grouped in a hundred and ten villages, and produces on average a million hectolitres of wines of controlled Alsace appellation.

Our commune, spreads on 2 200 hectares. The 560 hectares planted in vine on the communal round of applause make of Epfig the largest wine commune of Alsace. It is crossed by the wine path of Fronholz. The field of Ostertag extends on 13 hectares.

From the grape to the vine

The grape harvest is late, sometimes in the second fortnight of October. To what concern the wine making, after few months in barrels, the wine is filtered and bottled as of the first racking.

Les vendanges sont tardives, parfois dans la deuxième quinzaine d'octobre. Au niveau de la vinification, après quelques mois de tonneau, le vin est filtré et mis en bouteilles dès le premier soutirage.
