All about Corsican honey

A pure Corsican honey

Since 1998, the Corsican honey has been granted an "Origin Certified Label". This label acknowledges the special Corsican know how in the making of honey and it guarantees the origin and the quality of our honey.

Corsican bbes are of a special species particularly adapted to the local climate. This species is now protected and it is forbidden to introduce any other species of bees in Corsica.

Strict quality controls

- Hives are to well-maintained,
- Beeswax are to be renewed regularly
- Use of 100% pure beeswax only
- Smoking of hives only with the burning of natural plants (thyme, pine, rosemary or eucalyptus leaves)
- Prohibition of the use of any chemical reactive
- Extraction of honey by cold centrifuging
- Filtering and decanting compulsory
- Interdiction of any pasteurization
- Gathering of honey only on wild flowers and plants.
