A little bit of history...

Since the conflicts between Catholics and Protestant and until the second world war, the Cévennes region has always been a place of resistance. A Cévennes hamlet has even sheltered German resistants during the second world war !

The hamlet where we live was almost uninhabited since the first world war. It is being rebuilt little by little since 1989. Now, 7 families live here all year long. You can see on the opposite pictures of our house in ruins (more than 4 years ago) and what it is today.

You can arrive here from the Mediterranean coast via Nîmes and Alès and you will take advantage of small roads' charms, or come here by Mende or Millau and arrive by Florac, then Barre des Cévennes and at last reach Saint-Germain de Calberte by a scenery road from which you can see l'Aigoual, Mount Lozère and the Bougès massif.

- The Thérond delicatessen shop in Saint-Germain de Calberte where you will find gourmet products
- We also recommend you to visit the castle of Saint Germain de Calberte. Near the castle, you will find the restaurant of Ann et Stephan Benn with its rabbit base specialties (Tel: 04 66 45 92 82)
- A little further, at one hour of driving or a day of walking by hiking trails, you will find the bed & breakfast of Martine Chaptal at Mijavols near Florac (tel. : 04 66 45 09 04) on a beautiful site, and the excellent restaurant "La truite" at Pont de Montvert near Mount Lozère.
