Where does it come from?

Loaf sugar plays an important part in Bolivian cooking. It has been made a traditional fashion for more than four centuries but has tended to be overtaken by industrially produced sugars.

History

It was first made in the sixteenth century, and at that time proved to be an efficient way to transport sugar. While it was originally thought of as a sugar for the working classes, it is today a much sought after treat for everyone.
