A mixture for Hypocras, a drink popular in the middle ages

According to legend, the recipe for Hypocras was invented by the Greek doctor Hippocrates in the 5th century BC.

Much later, the Crusader armies discovered this 'magic potion' during their campaign to liberate the Holy Land, and it was they who were responsible for introducing the drink to Western Europe. Sumptuously flavoured, with reputed tonic and aphrodisiac qualities, Hypocras was the drink of choice during the Middle Ages.

This jar contains all the ingredients that you need to prepare your own Hypocras mix, flavoured with rose, honey and warm spices.

How to use

  • Préparation : Add the ingredients to a litre of red wine and leave to infuse for 48 hours in a cool place. Filter and bottle.
  • Serving : Serve chilled as an apperitif, or as a pudding wine.
  • Our suggestion : Serve with a cinnamon stick in each glass

Composition : Sugar flavored with rose and honey (unrefined sugar cane, natural flavours of rose and honey), rose petals, mace, nutmeg, crushed vanilla, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, paradise seed, cloves.
