Porto Muiños harvest it by hand at low tide or through skin-diving, selecting the healthiest, most clean and vigorous specimen adhered to the rocks.
It is rich in protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals. It has a high protein value and is rich in calcium, magnesium, potassium, vitamin C and niacin.
