The Clos de l’Echo is a superb property, situated facing the castle of Chinon. It is without doubt one of the best of the Chateau’s vineyards. Belonging to the family of the great humanist François Rabelais, the property takes its name from the resounding cries of delight that come from the tourists who visit it. For a long time used as an agricultural exploitation for the production of cereals, the property was bought in 1952 by René et Madeleine Couly, who revived the vineyard. Based on clay-rich and alkaline soil, which is perfect for the cabernet franc grape.

Beautiful grenadine colour with mauve lights. Very fruity nose, with notes of black cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant. Rich, heavy and with tannic notes. Well balanced.

Good for drinking after 3 – 6 years, extraordinary after 10 – 15 years.

Decant before serving at between 15 and 18°C. Delicious with roast poultry, grilled or roast beef, game.
