São Tomé & Principe is the second smallest African country. Known as the island in “the middle of the world” or “the chocolate Island”, it is an archipelago on the South Atlantic side, located 350 km from the Gabonese Coast in the Gulf of Guinea. It consists of two islands: Saint Thomas Island (São Tomé) and Prince Island (Principe). Their main source of wealth over 1000 km² is cocoa, from the plantation Roça Uba Budo. This resource has been exploited since the 19th century which makes it one of the oldest plantations. Cocoa trees are cultivated in the district of Água Grande in São Tomé on a very rich volcanic soil, allowing the cocoa to acquire an exceptional quality. Amongst the harvested cocoas of that farm is the Forastero. It is a cocoa of high-quality, known all over the word. Coppeneur Confectioner imports this Forastero cocoa of great quality to make products called “Plantation Uba Budo”. The Forastero cocoa presents fresh, pure and spicy overtones with unique aromas of exotic woods.
