History of the real Praslines Mazet de Montargis

The first “Praslines” were made in the French town of Montargis during the reign of Louis XIII. The marshal Duke of Plessis-Praslin, minister and peer of the kingdom, renowned for his charm and chivalry, used to offer these delicious rocky roasted almonds to the ladies of the court.

These exquisite delicacies were the creation of the “officier de bouche” of the marshal, who established a Prasline shop in Montargis “in a townhouse next to the church, near the left side gate”. Today, the Chocolate Confectioner is located in the centre of town, Place Mirabeau, next to the church.
