Chocolate covered crispy almonds and hazelnuts
Created during the reign of Louis XIII by the “officier de bouche” of the marshal Duke of Praslin, these roasted and caramelized almonds were named “Praslines”, and were extremely popular at the French court. This “officier de bouche” then moved to Montargis using the title “Confiserie du Roi” (“King's Confectioner's”) which was changed to “Mazet Confiseur” (“Mazet Confectioner”) in 1903. The recipe of the “Praslines”, which inspires the creations of “Mazet Confiseur”, remains a secret to this day.
It is the delicious crunch of the praline, under its layer of dark chocolate, in these almond sweets that makes them so fabulous.
