Extinct species 50 years ago, this plant, close to rapeseed, is finer and lighter than traditional rapeseed. This ‘navette’ virgin oil has a strong taste with many flavours, amongst others cabbage, and a very pleasant taste of turnip. It goes very well with vegetable soups or stews, vegetables, cabbage or potato salads, dishes with beetroot, shallot, broccoli, cabbage, or to make the famous ‘cervelle de canut’ (Speciality of Lyon in France: mix of whisked fromage frais, minced chives, salt and pepper).

Health interests

Rich in unsaturated fatty acids, the ‘navette’ virgin oil is very good for health.

The oil mill from Beaujolais

The oil mill from Beaujolais is born from a fortuitous discovery in 1981 of a traditional oil manufacture workshop of the 19th century. A few years are enough to drive Mireille and Jean-Marc on a real passion and make them world-famous throwsters, and this, thanks to their high quality products is used by many star Chefs (Troisgros, Ducasse, Blanc, the Pourcel brothers, Gagnaire…) A nut, or a fruit, an oil, that is the credo of the oil mill. So, not blended, only first pressing virgin oil, for a preserved taste.
