Grape variety: This wine is produced with a very complex assemblage that gives its authenticity: 30% Viognier, 30% Chardonnais, 30% Petit Manseng, 10% from a range of old grape varieties (Petit Courbu du Béarn, Petite Arvine from the Valais, Rhole from Provence, Marsanne from the Rhône and about ten other grape varieties.)

Tasting: The Mas de Daumas Gassac Whites have this particularity of having « two lives » which are clearly distinct, depending on the age of the wine.

• During the first years, this clever assemblage gives birth to a great vintage of dazzling purity and freshness, with a wonderful fruity flavour, sustained by an unctuous texture.
• A different wine appears between the third and the sixth year. The fruity flavour and the freshness fade. Really surprising and new flavours appear, developing flavours like “sherry”, old “Sauternes” or oxidative flavours with a great finesse. You may love this stage, or you may not like it. It is up to you to be careful whether to drink your Whites within the first two years if you are not looking for paradoxical flavours.

Honours: Michael Broadbent, famous British author of wine guides and books, renowned for his intransigence, mentioned it as being “one of the ten best wines of the World”.

Wine and dishes:Goes wonderfully with oyster’s au gratin, pan-cooked foie gras, or shelled scallops. Unforgettable at the aperitif!

Serve:Around 11° and 12°C. These great wines could be decanted, especially during their second life.
