These traditional French macaroons have a subtle yet delicious caramelised almond flavour. Nowadays, the Charaix house is still producing these macaroons using only traditional process and natural ingredients (almonds, hazelnuts, white's egg, sugar and flour). This traditional process allow you to go back in time in the macaroons origins!

In 1581 Catherine de Médicis was organizing Anne de Joyeuse duke and Marguerite de Lorraine's wedding. She decided to order an exclusive biscuit recipe from Italia, named "Maccarone". The Duke loved these biscuits and introduced its in Joyeuse (the city where he came from). This how the story of the "Macaron la Joyeuse" began...
